After the Environment Agency published its new charging scheme effective from 1st April 2018, REAL carried out another cost comparison exercise to compare the average annual costs for renewal of certification and deployment of waste composts in England.
On average, an operator processing between 20,001 and 50,000 tonnes per annum would incur an annual cost of approximately £5,000 for independent certification against the end of waste criteria to renew their certification. The spreading of waste compost under waste regulations in England would cost approximately £35,000.
