We are pleased to announce that all three CCS Approved Laboratories have been reappointed this year to undertake PAS 100 testing of compost for the Compost Certification Scheme, following the independent audit round. The full list of contact and address details for these laboratories can be found on our website here.
In 2021 we also carried out the annual review and revision of the Laboratory T&Cs in consultation with the Certification Bodies and Approved Laboratories, under our Laboratory Approval Scheme.
Several changes have been introduced to the requirements for laboratories approved to undertake testing of compost, though the most significant change is the introduction of the requirement to participate in the LGC Animal Feeds Proficiency Testing Scheme (AFPS) for microbial pathogens. This replaces the VETQAS scheme and uses a real matrix rather than freeze-dried ampoule, it has more robust statistics, and is run by a UKAS approved PT programme provider.
The new T&Cs have been signed by all three laboratories – version 6 is available here.
