Thank you to everyone who attended the fourth meeting of the Compost Certification Scheme Producers’ Forum in August. We welcome new ideas and opinions at the Forum meetings as they can both prompt stimulating discussions, and help shape the future of the Scheme. The Forum consists of representatives of compost producers and provides the opportunity for them to raise issues they may be experiencing in relation to certification under the Scheme.
The Producers’ Forum in Cambridge was another successful meeting comprised of updates given on recent Scheme developments (e.g. new complaints procedures) and important legislation/regulation (e.g. EU Fertiliser Regulations), and we received useful feedback on the different Scheme developments. The second half of the meeting opened up a discussion concentrating mainly on a potential review/revision of PAS100 and associated research projects.
We would like to boost attendance at these meetings and subsequently encourage wider participation in the Forum discussions. For they provide the opportunity to have constructive debates and they enable us insight into how the Scheme developments affect certified producers. Valuable ideas can be exchanged and these are reflected in the actions – published in the Forum minutes. The minutes from this meeting are available on the CCS website [here].
To date the Producers’ Forum meetings have been held in York, Bristol, Edinburgh, and Cambridge. We will aim to choose a different region of the country for the next meeting which should suit many compost producers, and we hope to engage with as many people as possible.
